Custo Barcelona has revealed its proposal for the Spring-Summer 2015 season, Skin, at New York Fashion Week. The collection features subtle transparencies and windows revealing glimpses of skin. Geometric openings strategically positioned on the garments to create optical illusions that suggest the body and offer a peek at what is normally unseen play a staring role, accentuating the power and sensuality of the female form.
The collection shows the sweeter side of the Custo Barcelona woman using geometric openwork, including lace edging, guipure and broderie anglaise, applied to looks enveloped in a sphere of gold or lace netting featuring rounded windows and mirror-like transparencies. Sweet, refreshing colors like mint, strawberries and cream, apricot, lemon and plum illuminate a collection that appeals directly to the senses. Babydoll mini dresses, mini coats and vests are the core pieces.
Micro skirts and shorts go down the hip and are flared in lace or guipure or are made from snake print silks, like the collection’s straight-cut pants. They are paired with sweatshirts embroidered with wavy, geometric guipures and geometric finishes or bandeau tops in their most minimum expression. The shoes are sandals or boots with square heels.
The swimwear has a sporty, fun rhythm made from experimental fabrics and is presented as a new outerwear option, called “street underwear”. The Custo man appreciates the quality of the natural fabrics and contemporary textures and prefers a relaxed, monochrome silhouette in tones evocative of anise, toffee or pistachio. The men’s collection, a free and relaxed casual chic, features baggy knit or lightweight fabric pants, ultra light handmade linen or textured knit sports coats, t-shirts and sweatshirts with appliqués, combined with satin-handled sports bags, sneakers or brogues. Presented in New York’s Lincoln Center, the show was attended by faithful followers of the brand, who did not want to miss a single detail of the latest proposals by Custo Barcelona.
At the show were Orange is the New Black actress Dascha Polanco, photographer and America’s Next Top Model Nigel Barker, Devious Maids actress Edy Ganem, singer and dancer Henry Santos and singer Olivia Somerlyn.
